WTF? Chrono Trigger and FF6 Not coming to PSN this Tuesday: Playstation Blog.

Just… WOW…

You've made him cry...

Wow, this is a spectacular failure on the part of the Playstation blog, as everyone saw, Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy 6 were supposed to be released Tuesday, as outlined on the Playstation Blog’s weekly update, the Drop. But recently they updated their twitter saying it was all a mistake, and you can go home. No games for you.

People have been waiting months for these games, (which have been rated by the ESRB numerous times) and now this!?! It’s beginning to look a lot more like the North American Playstation Blog is simply incompetent. They have apologized for this error though, by saying “yeah they’re coming but not this week” . Sadly we already knew that, and have been waiting for months and once again no dates were given for their release.

Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI on PSN Tuesday

YAY!

Finally our collective prayers have been answered.

Square Enix got off their buts and finally got their PSone Classics coming to PSN. We’ve all been waiting months since these games were outed on the ESRB rating website, but their finally there! Tuesday these two originally SNES classics will be coming to PSN. No word on the price yet, but don’t be surprised if they’re both at the 9.99 price point, these games are revered for a reason.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions coming out on PSN, but why?

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the LionsFinal Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions coming to a PSPgo near you…

When Sony started releasing PSP games on the network one of the main criticism (especially with the PSPgo) was that there weren’t many high rated PSP titles on the store that people wanted. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions is one of those games. It was a remake of the PSone Classic (Final Fantasy Tactics) for the PSP, and it contained new CG cutscenes, some gameplay additions and a few multi-player extras. It’s rated one of the best PSP games to date, (10th best according to gamerankings.com ) and as luck would have it, it’s finally getting released on the Playstation Store this Tuesday.

Vagrant Story Review

Vagrant Story Boxart

Vagrant Story

Original Release Date: May 15, 2000

Release on PSN: March 1, 2011

Price: 5.99

Story

In Vagrant Story you play as Ashley Riot, a knight in a special order. You’re chasing down an assassin with special powers who has lead a plot against the royal family, and you need to follow him through dungeons and some really interesting (beautiful) locations. You will be spending a lot of your time underground, and the story is brought to life with comic style cut-scenes with no dialogue, but comic style dialogue bubbles. This works decent enough, but considering I couldn’t get past six hours into this game (you’ll see why in the gameplay section) I couldn’t really give a decent review of Vagrant Story’s plot. So excuse me for that, now onto gameplay!

Final Fantasy VI and Parasite Eve 2 now on EU PSN, Not yet for NA.

Europe is getting some pretty good updates this week, especially for PSone Classic fans, with two legendary titles that are promised for our territory as well that were already released over there.

Final Fantasy VI was originally a NES title, and considered one of the best FF titles of all time.

Parasite Eve 2 is a survival horror RPG that is the last link in the series between the first game that was released a few months ago, and the third game in the series, The 3rd Birthday, which was also released a while ago, so for anyone who wants to play the series through chronologically and didn’t want to pay a mint for an original PSone copy, they’ve been waiting for this title (like myself for instance).

Crono Trigger is coming to PSoneClassics

Crono Trigger coming to your PSP

So it came out that the ESRB has rated Crono Trigger, a Square game that was originally released for the Super Nintendo years ago, and then released it for the PSone. This game was a classic on the Super Nintendo, and then they released a sequel Crono Cross built straight up for the PSone.

All this is very interesting but the big deal is that Crono Trigger is coming to PSN, and if you missed this game the first time around like me, or if you have great memories of it, you have a great chance (and a cheap one) to experience it. Coming…. Sometime in the future.

Check out the rating for Crono Trigger on the ESRB website, Fantasy, Violence and Mild Blood oo00oo!

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep Review

Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep

Release date:

September 7th 2010

Price:

between $25-30

Story

This was my first ever Kingdom Hearts game, for the uninitiated, this is sort of a mix between Final Fantasy and Disney, and although that sounds like a strange combination that would be too childish, it’s really not, and the story does become serious at points, but is usually lightened a bit with Mickey walking into the room. You play as three characters through three campaigns all playing the same story, but from different perspectives. These three characters are called Terra, Ventus and Aqua, (and the canon is in that order too). The three of you are keyblade wielders, essentially the Kingdom Hearts equivalent to Jedi, and you’re tasked to find the imbalance in the light (force anyone?).

The 3rd Birthday is Being Released on PSN as well as UMD!

3rd Birthday gets a PSN release after all.

Although Square Enix continually said they had no plans to release the 3rd Birthday on PSN is seems like it’s going to be released along with the UMD release this week, at least according to the Playstation Blog. This is great news for people interested in the series, also if they want to continue their PSP purchases over to the NGP coming later this year.

Oddly enough I e-mailed Square Enix just this week to see if they were going to release this game on PSN, this was their response.
