Story

This entry into the Metal Gear series takes place 10 years after Metal Gear Solid 3, in 1974. This game’s protagonist (Naked Snake instead of Solid snake from MGS1, 2 and 4) has started his own private military called “Militaires Sans Frontiers” or “Soldiers without Borders”. They’re asked by two people speaking on behalf of the Costa Rican government (one of the only governments in the world without a military) to save their country from a force that has seemed to move in. Snake accepts the request on hearing that his mentor from MGS3 is alive in a recording.

Story

Metal Gear is applauded for its story, it’s complex, grown up, well written, but the voice acting is top notch, and that’s a real rarity on the PSone. It centers around a covert operative named Snake, who is brought out of retirement to remedy a situation happening on an Island off of the coast of Alaska. There are many twists and turns in the story, betrayals, characters that are really developed well; this is not the same old story telling that was the norm in games at the time.
