UMD Passport System lets you convert your UMDs for a fee (In Japan).

Like this, but more spiky haired angst.

UMD Passport could get you to convert

Sony Computer Entertainment Japan released info on a new free app that Japanese PSN users can get on December 6th. This program outlines that you can take a UMD game and turn it into a digital copy for a fee, but oddly enough they aren’t set fees, and some range all the way up to the $30 mark, while others huddle around $1.00. There is also a set list of games that right now uses the service, (or will when it’s released) and there are no signs yet of the really desired games on this service, i.e. games like Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep, and Crisis Core : Final Fantasy 7. Still, this is encouraging, and even though there is no news on whether or not the App will be coming to North America or Europe, we can bet we’ll hear more about it after it’s launch in Japan, and closer to the PSVita’s release date of February 22nd of next year.

Steam gets hacked, somehow people aren’t upset, Sony still licking it’s wounds

Steam Service gets hacked, but no one is at risk – Gabe Newell

Steam had it’s own hacker problem that was announced to it’s users yesterday. We had heard from Steam that their forums were hacked last week, but until yesterday we had no word from them that any other information compromised. Gabe Newell sent a message to all Steam users saying that he’s sorry for the hack, and that even though some information had been taken, there is no information or notification that anyone’s accounts are at risk, but it’s probably a good idea to change your passwords anyway. Forum accounts, a separate system had all their information taken though, so there is a mandatory password reset there, it’s all outlined in his message to the users.

PEGI (European Version of ESRB) Rates Fear Effect 1 and 2, and Fighing Force (already in NA)

Come to North America soon!

Fear Effect 1 and 2 coming to European PSN.

News this week out of PEGI (the European version of the ESRB) says that Fear Effect 1 and 2, the quirky, cell shaded cult classics, are coming to PSN in that territory. The Fear Effect games were renowned for their great style and even their sex appeal, and they’re great additions to the Playstation Network. Although the games were action games, and not that long, they still came on four discs originally, so you might be looking at a 2 gigabyte file for these downloads.

Vanguard Bandits Rated by the ESRB for PSoneClassics.

Vanguard Bandits, Anyone know this game?

Vanguard Bandits Boxart

I guess that's the Pope's Giant Warrior Mech???

This game was originally released on the Playstation one all the way back in 2000, but it never made it’s way to Europe. It’s described as a Japanese Tactical RPG with mech suits. Seems pretty standard fare, if you live in the future and hand around giant mechs that is. This game kind of comes out of left field considering it’s barely known in the west, and with a gamesranking rating of %68 it’s a strange game to get on the service. Instead of something like Tekken 3 for instance. Vanguard Bandits was developed by Human Entertainment of Japan and then handed over to Working Designs for the NA version, if you remember Working Designs are the same people who worked on localizing games like Arc The Lad, and Alundra.

Two new PS2 classics coming Tuesday along with PSone classic Chrono Cross

This is getting regular!

Strange that only a month ago the first PS2 classics made their way to PSN, now it seems regularly there are more and more games making their way out for the new digital service, sadly though, this week more less known (But Fun!) titles seem to be making their debut along with Chrono Cross, which was announced earlier this week.

Looks decent for a 2005 game

Uncharted 3 Review

Worth the wait

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception

Uncharted 3 was released this week, and I’ve spent more than enough time playing through this title to give my opinion (I wanted to play through the online parts before writing this review so it took me a few days). But this game is great, and if you’re an Uncharted fan, undoubtedly you’ll get hours and hours of enjoyment out of this title.

Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy games dated!!!

Because Winter is for gaming…

Square Enix announced today three RPGs coming to PSone classics over the Winter, two we’ve been waiting for for a long, long time, the other we’re a bit surprised with. These games are classics and probably will eat away most of your winter holidays if you let them, so without further adieu…

YAY!

Chrono Cross November 8th,

Playstation Classics Extension on hold.

Even a replacement laptop has broken... twice... in a month...

You probably won’t believe this…

Just a few weeks ago, with the invent of PS2 classics on PSN I decided that I would be able to extend the website in to three distinct flavors, PSoneClassics.com for PSone classic news, PS2Classics.com, and PlaystationClassics.com with news and articles about Sony gaming products in general, sadly I’ve hit a bit of a hiccup, which can be seen to the right of your screen.

New PS2 Classics coming to the network!

The second crop of PS2 Classics to be reaped Tuesday

Until now there were only six games on the Playstation network that were PS2 classics, and now that’s about to change. Three new classics are hitting the store this week. A farming sim, an arcade shooter* and a Vampire temptress game that somehow despite always being crap is still popular.

Pretty nice looking game actually.

DarkStalkers The Night Warriors coming as a PSone Classic.

Eyes on the text cowboy.

DarkStalkers The Night Warriors coming for you fighting fans out there.

Darkstalkers is another Capcom fighting game that’s set to be released as a PSoneClassic if the ESRB is to be believed (personally I’m not sure anymore). This just after last week’s release of Street Fighter 3 Alpha from Capcom’s no.1 fighting franchise. For someone who’s never played a Darkstalkers game before it looks very similar to the art style of the Marvel Vs. Capcom games (one and two), and I’m sure most people will only know one character from the series, Morrigan, who just dresses sexy all the time to get your attention in the X vs. Capcom games (don’t they know that Iron Man is who everyone picks all the time?). Gameplay does look fun, and
