Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy games dated!!!

Because Winter is for gaming…

Square Enix announced today three RPGs coming to PSone classics over the Winter, two we’ve been waiting for for a long, long time, the other we’re a bit surprised with. These games are classics and probably will eat away most of your winter holidays if you let them, so without further adieu…

YAY!

Chrono Cross November 8th,

Playstation Classics Extension on hold.

Even a replacement laptop has broken... twice... in a month...

You probably won’t believe this…

Just a few weeks ago, with the invent of PS2 classics on PSN I decided that I would be able to extend the website in to three distinct flavors, PSoneClassics.com for PSone classic news, PS2Classics.com, and PlaystationClassics.com with news and articles about Sony gaming products in general, sadly I’ve hit a bit of a hiccup, which can be seen to the right of your screen.

New PS2 Classics coming to the network!

The second crop of PS2 Classics to be reaped Tuesday

Until now there were only six games on the Playstation network that were PS2 classics, and now that’s about to change. Three new classics are hitting the store this week. A farming sim, an arcade shooter* and a Vampire temptress game that somehow despite always being crap is still popular.

Pretty nice looking game actually.

DarkStalkers The Night Warriors coming as a PSone Classic.

Eyes on the text cowboy.

DarkStalkers The Night Warriors coming for you fighting fans out there.

Darkstalkers is another Capcom fighting game that’s set to be released as a PSoneClassic if the ESRB is to be believed (personally I’m not sure anymore). This just after last week’s release of Street Fighter 3 Alpha from Capcom’s no.1 fighting franchise. For someone who’s never played a Darkstalkers game before it looks very similar to the art style of the Marvel Vs. Capcom games (one and two), and I’m sure most people will only know one character from the series, Morrigan, who just dresses sexy all the time to get your attention in the X vs. Capcom games (don’t they know that Iron Man is who everyone picks all the time?). Gameplay does look fun, and

Playstation Vita First Edition announced, get the Vita one week early!

Here's what you get, for sale February 15th

Would you grab the Vita a week early?

Over on the Playstation blog it was announced today that there will be a first edition package for the Playstation Vita, to be released one week before the announced release date of February 22nd of next year. Included is a 4 gig memory card (a mandatory evil for some games we have found, considering there will be no internal memory to speak of at this point), a limited edition case, and a copy of Little Deviants, a Vita title that uses the back touch screen of the device as a main part of gameplay. There are two versions, and at this point it’s only for U.S. and Canadian gamers. The U.S. version will be the 3g version, and retail for $349.99, the Canadian version will go for 299.99 and only contain the wifi version of the console.

Interplay responds to request for MDK as a PSoneclassic.

We want MDK!

The MDK 2 HD version is being released on the big three consoles this year, but for those of us un-initiated in the world of MDK, it might be good to start at the beginning, as part of the weekly feature here on PSoneclassics.com I chose MDK as a game that should be released as a PSOneclassic, because it’s fast paced, has lots of character, and is just a lot of fun. I sent them a message about it today, here’s how the message went.

Why are so many crap games released on the Network?

Great game out!…Oh wait… that was last week.

Bass Fishing was released this week… and while it might do well with a certain demographic, it’s not the populous classic that we should see on the service. I actually received an e-mail from a great PSoneclassics fan yesterday asking why are there so many sub par games released on the network when there are so many great ones that haven’t yet been released. Here’s a taste, (Name has been changed to protect the writer’s identity).

Harrison Ford Playing Uncharted 3 is like a Geek Dream

Indiana Jones playing Nathan Drake?

Sony Japan seemed to take Nintendo’s lead on getting high class actors to push their product. Nintendo has made some amazing commercials with Robin Williams and the Zelda franchise because he’s been such a fan (he even named his daughter Zelda!). But Sony fires back with Harrison Ford playing Uncharted 3. Indiana Jones playing a game heavily influenced by himself! It’s like watching your dad play a game and loving it, but times it by the coolness factor of Han Solo. They may be spoilers! So if you don’t want anything spoiled, don’t watch!

Valkyria Chronicles 2 Bundle on PSN, get a beloved game for cheap

Valkyria Chronicles 2 a great game is now on sale for your PSP

The Gallian Liberation Front is looking right now to get Valkyria Chronicles 3 released in the West, and although the second game did sell better in the West than it did in Japan (U.S. and EU combined). Sega says that it’s not fiscally prudent for them to release the sequel. Last week a head of Sega said it was a lost cause, and this week members of the Gallian Liberation Front cornered another Sega bigwig at New York Comic Con, and he said not to give up hope.

Playstation Vita Launch February 22nd in North America, Europe, Mid East and Australia!!

Playstation Vita release date

Playstation Vita release date is here!

This kinda came out of nowhere.

But rejoice! Finally we have a Playstation Vita release date! Jack Tretton gave the word at a Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco today. Which is definitely a strange place to annouce something that should have been a much bigger deal than it was. Hell, putting the news out on Pulse, the Bi-weekly Playstation News show would have been a bigger deal! Hell, checking out the Web 2.0 website Jack Tretton isn’t even a featured speaker!
