Parasite Eve 2 at long last.
After months of wait and being the last territory in the world to get the title, Parasite Eve 2 is coming to the PSone Classics this tuesday as part of the weekly Playstation Store update. Parasite Eve 2 follows the story of Aya Brea a New York City detective who somehow got some pretty awesome psychic powers. If you’re looking to see what the first game in the series is like you can check out our review of Parasite Eve 1 here.
What’s different in Parasite Eve 2?
The Parasite Eve series are classic RPGs, but this second episode in the series adds a bit more of a survival horror twist. People also like this episode in the series because Aya has a steamy shower scene, and when most people played this game ,they were pre-teen an hormone filled. Originally Square said that they would release the first two games on PSN before the release of the 3rd Birthday, but sadly they didn’t make the cut, and then the Playstation Network hack sent the PSone classics train back by a few weeks as well. As of this point NA is still waiting for Chrono Trigger and Final Fantasy VI to be released for purchase on the network.

I’m just hoping to get my damn laptop back, I had to borrow a laptop to write this story I’ve been watching all the gamescon coverage from my itouch. The Vita is looking more and more impressive. That could get me to chuck out my itouch thts for sure.

just be careful. PE2 has a tank style control like D2 and the old Resident Evil games

Yes I had heard that, but I’ve played through all the RE games (reviewed them for the site too) so I don’t think the tank controls will be a huge problem. It’s sad that they didn’t keep PE1′s gameplay though, it was really fun and the best part of that title (except maybe the crazy cutscenes).

yeah i agree i dont know why they changed
oh and be ready to get creeped out by the Chasers…just thank me for that warning lol ( creepy as shit looking)

Why?!?! Why did they have to wait until the EXACT WEEK I start working full time and taking classes on the top?!
In any case, play PE2 before going on to 3rd Birthday. There are a lot of characters you will be clueless about in 3rd Birthday unless you get the good PE2 ending. The engine is, as camseyeview says, the old RE game KIND of engine, but the auto-lock function changes how the engine handles dramatically. No struggling to look at the boss here.

I just downloaded it a few hours ago, great game so far! Nothin like playing a good survival horror game at 4:00 A.M.
Now they just need to put Chrono Trigger, FFVI and Klonoa on PSN, hopefully in that order, if not all at once.

Now they need to put the croc series and Marvel VS Capcom 1 and ill be satisfied

The 3rd Birthday price dropped to $20.00 yesterday on PSN and Amazon, along with a couple other Square Enix PSP games.

Sweet, that’s an incentive for those who just finished pe2 to grab the third. I hope it’s a permanent price drop. They should drop the price of a few other titles as well , p3p specifically, more people need to play that game. Luckily I got it on a sale!

P.s. It seems like it’s true and the 3rd birthday will be at the 20 dollar price forever now. Awesome.

$20 is still a bit on the pricey edge if you ask me. Had they bundled all three titles from the beginning, it would be a steal at the original MSRP but selling 3rd Birthday on its own merits?…It’s not a *bad* game so much as mediocre, but it leaves so much potential the first two games gave it unexplored its almost criminal.

Yeah, The Third Birthday was a little disappointing. It was okay, but I think my expectations were too high. I wonder if they’ll ever make a proper PE sequel.
Oh well, one less game in my backlog.

^ No, they won’t. Parasite Eve was licensed to Square as the sequel to a novel of the same name. After PE2, it got into a license-war and….Well, if you look closely at 3rd Birthday, you can see what stuff was pulled because of the license; Manhattan events are Square property, as are Aya, Eve, and practically all of the cast. Aside from one, maybe two references in the text files, Mitochondria are never to be heard. Oh, and the title is gone, too.
…Yeah. We won’t see another PE game.
The thing with reboots, though, is that they need to be written well to justify the changes with virtues of the new setting. Describe 3rd Birthday this does not.

Nope, all the graphics of all the PSOne classics are the same as they were on the ps1, they’ll look a little… well… not pretty on your HDTV, I usually play my PSone Classics on my PSP, the graphics look better because the screen is smaller.

Tanks Brennan M for the answer.
its a shame that they didnt improve anything, this is my favorite game of all times, i have beaten it like 25 times.
Since i havent a PSP i cant play the third birthday either.
I hope they relase it for the ps3 soon.
