Thanks to a quick commenter here on PSone Classics, we now know about these two greats coming to PSN!
So what’s Chrono Cross?
Chrono Cross is the PSone sequel to Chrono Trigger, the SNES game that was famously due on PSN this week and then retracted with FF6. This one is lauded for it’s great graphics and music, but a lot of people say that it’s difficult to live up to the precedent that Chrono Trigger made (we’ll be able to find out!). There will no doubt be more time travelling hi-jinx instore in this one. Still has and incredible score of 94/100 on Metacritic’s scale though, this is a game that should definitely be on your radar.
And what’s Final Fantasy Origins?
Final Fantasy Origins is a re-release of the original two Final Fantasy games that were released on the PSone. These games were originally released on the NES, but the difference with this version is the graphics were a little upgraded for your viewing pleasure, the Music was remixed for your listening pleasure, and they added some full motion video. Luckily we’re getting the Final Fantasy Origins version instead of just the two separately, two games for the price of one! There were updated PSP versions made of both these games as well, but are not available on PSN as of time of writing
So when will Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy Origins be released?
Well there’s the rub as it seems to be in this business of PSone Classics, it’s impossible to know when these titles will actually be released on the Playstation Network. Hell, the Playstation Blog doesn’t even know! They’re predecessors, Crono Trigger and another Final Fantasy game, FF6 were originally rated by the ESRB on April 23rd of this year, and then rated again on July 19th. So when these titles will be released is nobody’s guess, hell, this could be releasing day and date with the PS Vita for all we know.
Thanks Dan for the tip!
