While playing through the new Heavy Rain exclusive on my 80 gig PS3 this weekend, Sony was tinkering with their website, and apparently with the underlying code with PSN as well. Now many users are reporting that they are getting signed out from the network, and can’t even play some games offline like the Heavy Rain title I’ve been enjoying.
BUT! It gets more interesting, I decided I wanted to play my digital copy of Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 that I had bought this past weekend when it was on sale, but it’s reverted it seems to the trial version…. odd….
So? Like a lover of PSone games I booted up a PSone classic I’m working to review, and oddly enough none of them will work either….
This is confusing to say the least!
So, I have this backwards compatibility that I paid extra for, so I’ll start up Soul Reaver 2, the sequel to one of my favorite PSOne Classics.
Start up is fine…. BUT! It seems all my save games don’t work, I tried it again with GT4, the game plays fine, but my data isn’t working, so all my cars would have to be bought again!
This is as you can probably understand a little frustrating, Also my PS3 clock has been set back to December 31st, 1999, at 6:40 pm though it’s not coming at a bad time for me seeing as I have a mid-term coming up that I should probably study for… but still, even corrupting my offline games is totally not cool.
Sony has twittered that they’re working on this problem and I’m sure it will be rectified soon. But it’s still amazing that a simple update can effect the Black bucket o bolts so significantly. Though not all PS3 owners are having this problem, it just seems to be those of us with the old Fat models. This makes me wonder whether the Playstation Network is a little too tethered to our systems if a problem with it can reverberate so heavily with our consoles. Remember when you put a game in your console and it worked all the time? Sigh… those were the days….
As soon as this gets fixed, I’ll update again, hopefully soon! I have some reviews to do, and I still need to download Grandia.
Update: Sony has been working on the problem and apparently there is a fix coming this morning, also it seems that this is a calendar issue so ever though your dynamic themes and game saves say they’re corrupted now, as soon as they fix the clock issue it will all be playable again.

Appears like ps3 fanatics here, I am a fan too and like to play video games… my girl says I play too much, but man it’s so entertaining. I’ve been playing modern warfare and among thieves: uncharted 2 for weeks and can’t quit! What would you gamers recommend? Anyhow, seems like a good site, is this wordpress? I’ve made a few pages myself and it ain’t easy. Thanks for taking time to post this up.
