Could this be a new trend?
Gravity Rush a much looked forward to game on the PSVita had a special pre-order for the game at certain retailers like Gamestop/EBgames, but now if you buy the game digitally within the first week you not only get the 10% regular discount on the title, but also that special pre-order DLC that was advertised at those retailers.
This is similar to what happened with God of War’s last game on the PSP Ghost of Sparta, wherein if you bought the game digitally within the first week of release you received the soundtrack, a free God of War 3 skin, a documentary and an three hour interview with all the heads of the series.
This is a great deal for those buying their games digitally, and probably a great deal for Sony, seeing as games purchased online are not games that are traded in again at retail. If publishers manage to get the word out to gamers that they can get the game cheaper and maybe even with more features and extras digitally, we might see more people buying more of those overpriced Memory cards.
Gravity Rush releases today for 40 dollars at retail and 35.99 on PSN, it has a current Metacritic Rating of 86%.
Extra Gravity Rush DLC is coming out next month.
