The Skateboarding game that started it all
Never mind that the Tony Hawk Series sold like made what it was originally out, (a stark contrast to the current games). The reason why Tony Hawk ProSkater should be a PSoneClassic is because they created the skateboarding game genre as it is today.
Story
Umm if anyone thought this game had a great and absorbing story they’re crazy, you play these games for the gameplay. If anyone disagrees I would like to have them write me a dissertation on the epic storyline of Madden 2005.
Gameplay
This was the reason why this game is a classic. The gameplay was simple and addictive, and it was one of those games that invited one more try to get the trick you wanted. The point was to go for collectibles, or try to make a record run. To be honest I didn’t even play this game on the PSone at the time, my first exposure to the series was when I bought Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2 for the Gameboy Advance. That game was seriously nothing like what the console versions were, but the gameplay was more or less the same, and it had me seriously hooked. If only the batteries weren’t so expensive for the thing…
There is multiplayer, a graffiti mode, and collectibles that unlock new areas.
Graphics
The graphics on the PSone were great for the time, the animations were spectacular and it ran really smooth. It was overshadowed by the Dreamcast version at the time of course, but the bright colours and skater/punk art style were unique at the time. One of the greatest things about Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater was the music. Tons of great artists lent their music to the title, and were then tattoed on the minds of gamers for year to come.
So why should this be a PSoneclassic?
It’s kind of obvious, if you’ve been a gamer as long as I have you’d know that this game deserves to be a classic, it was fun, memorable and incredibly popular. The series is dead as of writing, so there’s no reason as to why this can’t come out on PSN, as it’s already out there on the iOS devices. Even though the license is owned by the epidamy of evil on Earth (activision) I would still buy this game.

Very true, but I’d love it on the handheld, it would have such potential as a handheld series…

There are actually a couple of Tony Hawk games for PSP; Underground 2 Remix and Project 8. A new game for the Vita would be cool, they could do some awesome stuff with the touch screen controls.
