Playstation Vita release date is here!

This kinda came out of nowhere.

But rejoice! Finally we have a Playstation Vita release date! Jack Tretton gave the word at a Web 2.0 conference in San Francisco today. Which is definitely a strange place to annouce something that should have been a much bigger deal than it was. Hell, putting the news out on Pulse, the Bi-weekly Playstation News show would have been a bigger deal! Hell, checking out the Web 2.0 website Jack Tretton isn’t even a featured speaker!

A new PSone classic worth mentioning is coming, a fighting classic, Street Fighter Alpha 3, originally released on the PSone in 1999, it was a million seller (as most Street Fighter games are), and is a fond entry in the series. So fond in fact, that Street Fighter Alpha 3 was ported to the PSP in 2006, as Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.

The Playstation Vita went up for pre-order this week in Japan, and a lot of people were lined up, like they always are in Japan for new game consoles. The Vita is out the on December 17th, and the software is all priced, (the same price points as PSP software despite the bump in graphics more or less), the accessories are all shown, and people already have their pre-orders in on the other side of the pond (well, the other OTHER side).

The Skateboarding game that started it all

Never mind that the Tony Hawk Series sold like made what it was originally out, (a stark contrast to the current games). The reason why Tony Hawk ProSkater should be a PSoneClassic is because they created the skateboarding game genre as it is today.

Story

Umm if anyone thought this game had a great and absorbing story they’re crazy, you play these games for the gameplay. If anyone disagrees I would like to have them write me a dissertation on the epic storyline of Madden 2005.

Possible PSN Breach

There was a message from the security gods of Sony yesterday over a tiny security breach on the Playstation Network and Sony Online , with supposedly 93,000 accounts being compromised, don’t worry though, Sony managed to catch the mistake, and reset those passwords, so if you’re one of the few who have tried to sign in and gotten an error, you just need to reset your password. They stressed that no credit card information has been compromised, so nobody is losing money on this.

But I reset my password anyways!

Playing your old UMDs on the Vita? Could it be true?

We’ve heard this before, Sony is “looking into” a way to have your old UMDs playable on the new console. This was the major crux for the PSPgo. But it seems like this new rumour is actually a bit more plausible. According to Andriasang, UMD owners will be able to download their UMD games on the Playstation Network for a special price. This sounds like a good compromise, because giving away copies of games for free is not something that corporations love to do, and I don’t want to pay full price for my Metal Gear Solid Peacewalker again after I bought the collector’s edition.

Hey there guys, it’s actually Thanksgiving up here in Canada so after today it might be a little tough for me to post, everything should be back to normal on Tuesday! To my fellow Canadians, Happy Thanksgiving! To everyone else, be jealous! I get two Turkey dinners this weekend!

"We weren't released in the West? Why not?"

What do we want? LOCALIZATION! When do we want it? NOW!

The Gallian Liberation Front (GLF) is a group of Valkyria Chronicle lovers who have been waiting for Valkyria Chronicles 3 for PSP to be localized and released in the West. So far Sega has said that it wouldn’t make sense fiscally to release the game in N.A. and Europe because of low sales, but oddly enough the second game in the series, Valkyria Chronicles 2 (also on PSP and available digitally on PSN) has sold better in the West than it did in Japan. So another 225,000 units should make for enough money to pay a couple translators and voice actors right?

This week: Diablo

Everyone has heard of the classic Diablo series, the first games was incredibly popular and the second game is still being played today by the thousands 11 years after it’s release on the PC. Many could be forgiven for thinking the first game never made it to the PSX. I was surprised actually to see it was up there. But there is no doubt this game would sell amazing as a PSOne Classic.

Last week there was a teaser trailer for “something” coming October 5th. Many people thought this would be some huge announcement, like a new game or service, but it turns out it’s just an advertisement, but one of the best ones I’ve seen in a while. Check it out!
