Finally a reason to love the Playstation store again. A true classic game is release this week, Dark Forces, the 90’s first person shooter that was a huge hit on the computer (I played it back in the day) but never tried it on the Playstation, so I’m downloading that one right now. Also disregard my last post about last week being the last week for Thursday Playstation store updates it was today. Next week we get the updates starting on Tuesdays, and hopefully we can hope for more classics like this one.

King of Fighters 99 Review

King of Fighters 99

Price: 5.99

Original release date: July 22nd, 1999

Release Date on PSN: May 14th, 2009

Story

This game is a fighting game, and the story equates to about three paragraphs of written dialogue between fights. There is an arcade mode that is about six fights long, and I think they really didn’t stretch themselves for that, there is a save function, they should have at least made the story function long enough to fight every character in the game. You can’t really fault this game for a bad story though, because it really doesn’t have one.

Today will be the last update for PSN on a Thursday, as you can see from last week’s issue of Pulse they’ve decided to change it up and have the updates on Tuesdays from now on. No doubt this is to allow games that come out on retail to get their updates that day from the Network, and to have release balance with other systems. Xbox Live updates every Tuesday, so you might as well be there to compete. Also possibly those people who like to download their PSP games will be able to get them day one on release day??? (I feel sorry for those of you who bought a PSPgo…)

This game starts off with a hypothetical than anyone who’s ever taken high school history has thought of. A time machine is built, and Einstein goes back in time and kills Hitler before he takes over Germany. Good right? Well in this scenario, instead of Hitler waging war on Europe, Stalin decides to use the power of the Soviet Union to invade!

Playstation Network update, April 1st, 2010

PlayStation Store

For this April fools day Sony has pulled a great joke by releasing TNN Motorsports Hardcore 4×4. A PSone game now seemingly considered a “Classic”. There are some deals out there though and a new issue of Pulse which I will of course have to watch to get my fill of the cute hostess. It has been a while since a real PSOne Classic has been released, there is word though that FF9 should be making it’s way to the store soon (if you didn’t already know).  I’m still waiting for my Vagrant Story, a friend of mine from Japan is playing it on his PSP, if only I could speak Japanese.
